SPARTANBURG S.C. (FOX Carolina) - A homicide investigation is underway following a early morning shooting in Spartanburg.

The Spartanburg Police Department reports officers responded to gunfire at an apartment along Collins Avenue around 4 a.m. Sunday.

Upon arrival the police department said they discovered evidence of gunfire and followed a trail of blood in the residence. Inside the home, officers located a seven-month-old infant suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.

The police department reports preliminary information indicates that the infant and his mother were asleep when several unknown suspects fired multiple rounds into the home.
