NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham appeared on national news Sunday to discuss the importance of Medicare and Medicaid for New Mexicans. Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz says applications for a new rural hospital fund will open in early September.

The $50 billion fund comes after Medicaid cuts in President Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" passed last month to boost border and defense spending. Some GOP senators pushed for the fund to offset the impact on rural hospitals.
