WARREN — Richard Cox joined the Navy in July 1989 because “everybody in my family was either Marines or Army.”
“My father and I were butting heads and I said, ‘I will show you,’ and I joined the military. When I had to sign the papers to go, my mother was in tears, and my father was looking like ‘yep, you’ll show me.’ I came back from boot camp, and I said, ‘I am so sorry,’ He was always so proud of me because he couldn’t serve. His father served and his grandfather served.”
