CHARLESTON, S.C. — Congresswoman Nancy Mace has joined the increasingly crowded field of Republicans running to become the next governor of South Carolina.

Mace was set to make the formal announcement at 7:30 a.m. Monday, but dropped the news a little early by posting images on social media that said, "Nancy Mace for Governor." In one of them, she can be seen standing beside President Donald Trump while both are giving a thumbs up sign.

Mace is currently representing South Carolina's First Congressional District, which stretches from Charleston to Hilton Head along the state's coast.
