DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Two people were killed and six others injured in a mass shooting in an area of downtown Los Angeles where several parties took place overnight, authorities said.
The mass shooting happened around 1 a.m. Monday in the area of 14th Place and Paloma Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. There were reportedly multiple parties taking place in the area at that time.
LAPD officers were on patrol in area around 11 p.m. Sunday when they saw someone going into what they believe was an unauthorized party.
"It appeared to be a party. It is unknown what type of party that was. The officers did shut down that party and locked the location," said LAPD Captain Letisia Ruiz.
