LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — Rapper Soulja Boy was arrested early Sunday in Los Angeles after police say they found a firearm during a traffic stop.

According to the LAPD, officers pulled over a vehicle around 2:35 a.m. near Melrose Avenue and North Genesee Avenue. One of the passengers, identified as DeAndre Cortez Way — better known as the “Crank That” rapper Soulja Boy — was arrested on suspicion of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Police did not share details about what prompted the stop or who else may have been in the vehicle. Additional information about the firearm was not immediately available.

He was booked into jail in the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division a little after 6 a.m., according to the sheriff department's inmate database.
