MADISONVILLE, Ky. (WEVV) — An assistant manager for a Madisonville Dollar General was accused of stealing a money deposit, valued over $2,700.

According to Madisonville Police, 43-year-old Melissa Kittinger was arrested on August 1st for Theft by Unlawful Taking between $1000 and $10,000.

Officers made contact with a regional manager from Dollar General about filing a report about a money deposit being stolen.

The manager said video surveillance showed Kittinger taking the deposit on July 20th and signing a log confirming the money was delivered to the bank. But, bank records showed the money never made it.

The manager also told police that she attempted to talk to Kittinger about it on August 1st, but Kittinger retrieved her belongings from the store and left without speaking to the
