COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) -- U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace officially entered the race to become South Carolina’s next governor on Monday, joining an already crowded field of Republicans hoping to succeed term-limited Gov. Henry McMaster.

Mace, who spent the past several months teasing a potential bid, made her decision official during an early morning announcement from Capers Hall Courtyard at The Citadel.

“I didn’t come to join the club," Mace said in her announcement. "I came to hold the line. They said stay quiet. I spoke up. They said sit down. I stood up. They said play nice. I fought back.
