ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KCTV) - Training camp is the time for rookies to prove why they belong on an NFL team’s 53-man roster.

One Chiefs draftee has been doing exactly that in the last two weeks - fourth round draft pick out of Utah State Jalen Royals.

The most important thing he’s done so far is get the quarterbacks to trust him in such a short amount of time.

“He’s catching the football well, strong, and looks like the quarterbacks trust him. That’s a big part of it,” head coach Andy Reid said about Royals. “As you watch, you just kind of can see who the quarterbacks are going to, and there is a certain trust they’re developing here.”

“It’s complicated I would say, but like there’s times where it’s like I’m still a rookie at the end of the day, so I’m still trying to learn everything.”
