BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) - North Dakota’s early Canada Goose hunting season will open statewide on Aug. 15, with closing dates varying by zone. The Missouri River zone will close Sept. 7, the western zone on Sept. 15, and the eastern zone on Sept. 22.
The early season is designed to help reduce the number of locally breeding Canada geese, which remain high across the state. Officials hope the additional hunting opportunities will help manage the population.
Hunters can take up to 15 geese per day, with a possession limit of 45. Shooting hours run from half an hour before sunrise to sunset.
Licensing requirements remain unchanged from last year. Residents must have a $10 early Canada goose license, a general game and habitat license, and a small game license if they’re 16 or older. Non-resid
