New BOEM policy not expected to affect Dominion offshore wind project

Following a July 30 announcement from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) that it was, “rescinding all designated Wind Energy Areas (WEAs) on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf (OCS),” the fate of future domestic wind energy development is uncertain.
The BOEM release references a Presidential Memorandum titled “Temporary Withdrawal of All Areas on the Outer Continental Shelf from Offshore Wind Leasing and Review of the Federal Government’s Leasing and Permitting Practices for Wind Projects.”
There does not appear to be an immediate effect on the leased 40,000-acre Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) South that Dominion Energy owns. That area was originally designated the Kitty
