SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) - The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting in Summerville that left one person dead on Monday.

Deputies responded just before 3:30 p.m. to a home on Grand View Crossing in the Cane Bay area, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

A female victim was taken to the hospital and later died.

Residents in the area can expect increased law enforcement presence while deputies continue to investigate.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the victim.
