Mobile activist and City Council candidate Reggie Hill filed a lawsuit Friday in Mobile County Circuit Court seeking to have fellow candidate Samantha Ingram disqualified from the District 2 race on the grounds she does not meet the legal residency requirements to run for office.
Last month, Lagniappe reported on Georgia voting records that showed Ingram, who previously worked as deputy superintendent of the Mobile County Public School System before leaving Alabama in 2007 to pursue other job opportunities, cast a ballot in the 2024 general election in that state. Ingram purchased a home on Texas Street in Mobile in June 2023, and claimed she started living there full-time in June 2024. She qualified to run against District 2 Councilman William Carroll and Hill at the end of July.
