Two men were arrested after one of them fell 100 feet into a silo while trespassing at an abandoned cement plant in Catskill, according to State Police.

On the night of August 1, 2025, Lucas Marrello, 21, of Cambridge, and Luke H. Apy, 23, of Malta, allegedly entered the off-limits property of the Lehigh Cement Plant on Route 9W. Police said the pair breached a perimeter fence before climbing to the top of one of the site’s cement silos. While exploring, Apy removed a piece of plywood covering an opening at the top of the structure and fell approximately 100 feet into the silo.

Though Apy remained conscious after the fall, he was trapped and unable to exit on his own. Troopers from the State Police Catskill barracks, along with emergency personnel, responded to the scene around 10:26pm.
