WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) - A Pensacola man pleaded guilty on Monday after he was charged with trafficking in fentanyl.
Back in November 2024, the Walton County Sheriff's Office VICE/Narcotics Unit arrested 36-year-old Jonathan Nikos Butler.
Officials said Butler was found in possession of nearly an ounce of fentanyl and 10 Xanax tablets during a criminal investigation.
Just 2 milligrams of fentanyl can be a potentially lethal dose for an average adult; one ounce equals 14,000 potential deaths, officials said.
Butler was charged with trafficking in fentanyl (14-28 grams) and possession of a controlled substance.
Butler is heading to prison; he's facing 19 years, with 15 of those mandatory.
