SAN DIEGO (Border Report) -- Six police officers in Cabo San Lucas have been arrested by the attorney general's office in Baja California Sur, accused of running a kidnapping and extortion ring.
The arrests were carried out on July 29 by Mexican Marines.
Five men and one woman, police officers working for the Cabo San Lucas Police Department, are now awaiting trial.
They have been identified only by their first names and a generic "N" as their last names.
Investigators say back in June, a complaint was filed after the disappearance of two men, one 17 years of age, the other 21, both Mexican nationals.
Both were reported missing in the popular tourist destination of Cabo San Lucas.
