PITTSBURGH —

Two people were taken into custody after a suspected carjacking led to a vehicle pursuit and a backup of traffic along Route 28 in Allegheny County Monday afternoon.

Pittsburgh police, SWAT, EMS, and River Rescue units responded in an assist capacity for a vehicle pursuit originating in Stowe Township involving a suspected carjacking. Advertisement

The incident was reported just after 3 p.m.

Officials confirmed the pursuit led police to the area near the 31st Street Bridge, where the driver of the stolen vehicle collided with another driver.

Video from Sky 4, Pittsburgh's only news chopper, showed multiple police units on and under the 31st Street Bridge following the pursuit. K-9 units appeared to be actively searching the woods around the scene.
