INDIANAPOLIS — A man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for striking a member of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department with a car.

According to a press release from the Marion County Prosecutor's Office, Terrance Shane's sentence will be executed by the Indiana Department of Correction. Earlier this year, he pleaded guilty to possession of a narcotic drug and battery by means of a deadly weapon, which are Level 3 and Level 5 Felonies, respectively.

Court records indicate Shane also faced one count of battery against a public safety official — a Level 5 Felony. That charge was ultimately dismissed as the case played out in court.
