Ispent the summer in Detroit and can’t stop thinking about it.
Hammocking on Belle Isle with the breeze off the river, biking through neighborhoods during the Thursday night Slow Roll, Tigers games, exploring the DIA and Charles Wright Museum — I barely scratched the surface and loved every second.
The city is full of art, history and heart. The main library blew me away (please fund it more!), the murals are incredible and the Motown Museum gave me chills. I wandered cemeteries like Elmwood, grateful for the brochures telling the stories of those buried there. I want to learn more about the Underground Railroad and everything else this city holds.
I met kind, welcoming people everywhere I went.
