ALLEN PARK — Detroit Lions quarterback Hendon Hooker rated his performance in the first preseason game a “zero out of 10.″
A lackluster offensive performance across the board saw Hooker — vying for the backup quarterback spot with Kyle Allen — express a hunger to do better.
For coach Dan Campbell, he’s seeing plenty that’s better from Hooker, even just going back to the spring. What he really wants to see, though, is Hooker stringing together strong play regularly.
“Just keep diving into the work, keep getting the reps and he just needs some small victories,” Campbell said Monday. “He just needs a few wins here just to stack some back-to-back reps, back-to-back days and I think that’s going to do him wonders."
