The Santa Maria City Council will open the 2025-26 fiscal year with appointments to multiple community oversight committees including the Block Grants Advisory Committee and the Downtown Revitalization Committee.

The council is also set to formalize the appointment of two councilmembers to a budget ad-hoc committee, approved at the last council meeting, to address ongoing structural deficits in the city budget — a $26.1 million shortfall in 2025-26 was balanced with reserve funds.

As part of regular business, councilmembers will also take up two items continued from their June 17 meeting: adopting updates to the City's purchasing guidelines and a contract with J.D. Humann Inc. for citywide landscaping services.
