PENN TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

Firefighters rescued a young girl and her dog from a house fire in Penn Township Monday afternoon.

Irwin Deputy Chief Shawn Stitely told our news partners at the Trib that the young girl was unconscious when they found her. She was taken to the hospital, but her condition was not available. Advertisement

Officials stated that the dog received oxygen from a local EMS agency.

The fire was reported to have started just after 12:30 p.m.

The state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, which started in the rear deck of the home. The windows were damaged in the rear and front of the home above the garage, officials told the Trib.
