CHEYENNE — Friday evening’s storm brought extensive, widespread damage to car windows and buildings, meaning many people are likely looking for help with repairs. In cases like this, it’s important to know which contractors property owners can trust, and who may be using the storm to scam potential customers.
Perry Rockvam, Laramie County Sheriff’s Office chief deputy, told WTE how to avoid fraudulent services and pick out the trustworthy repair people.
Rockvam said there are currently no scam reports, but he has been made aware of companies — fraudulent or not — that have been calling people’s cellphones to offer services. Some calls have even come from contractors based in Colorado, so it’s really important during this time to verify all companies.
