A Wiltshire man has been charged with sexual assault and several other offences following an incident in a town centre.

Thomas Lawton, of High Street in Malmesbury, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in the dock at Salisbury Magistrates Court this morning.

The 49-year-old is charged with sexual assault, common assault, two counts of threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place and two counts of criminal damage to property valued under £5,000.

These charges relate to an incident in Malmesbury on Saturday, August 2.
