Last week, Orange County government took three swift hits in a row from state officials who should have been supporting one of the state’s economic powerhouses, not attacking it.
First, the state announced it would be “auditing” Orange County’s spending — which will almost certainly translate into an ideologically fueled hunt for spending Gov. Ron DeSantis doesn’t approve of. The second, a hamfisted move to bully Orange County into modifying an agreement with federal immigration officials, featured outrageous falsehoods and an over-the-top threat to remove all seven members of the County Commission from office.
