PACOIMA – A driver suspected of striking and killing a woman trying to cross a street in Pacoima outside of a crosswalk Monday evening was arrested after attempting to flee.

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill Division were called at 8:15 p.m. Monday to Osborne Street and Haddon Avenue regarding reports that the suspect was traveling west on Osborne Street when he struck a woman crossing the street, according to a department spokesman.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.

Police said the suspect, who did not stop to assist the victim, was arrested shortly after the collision.

Officers closed Osborne Street between Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Haddon Avenue while they investigated the cause of the collision.
