NFL running back Saquon Barkley admitted he was stunned to be named as part of President Donald Trump's new council.

Barkley, 28, said he declined the offer made by the President earlier this year.

But the Philadelphia Eagles superstar was still name-checked on the sports council.

President Trump last week hosted a number of sports stars at the White House.

He relaunched the Presidential Fitness Test, aimed at improving the health and activity of America's children.

Golfer Bryson DeChambeau and WWE icon Triple H were in attendance with New York Giants legend Lawrence Taylor.

Some more sports stars were named on the council by the President.

They include golf great Jack Nicklaus and hockey legend Wayne Gretzky.

And Barkley admitted he was surprised his name came up.
