Deputies with the Jasper County Sheriff's Department say a chase that begin in Lumberton in the early hours of Tuesday morning end in the south end of Jasper County with the arrest of a suspect that reportedly exceeded 100 mph as he tried to get away from the law.

Officers say it all begin shortly before 3:00 when an officers with the Lumberton Police Department initiated a high speed pursuit in Lumberton as the driver discarded a large amount of narcotics.

Officers from not only Lumberton but also Silsbee Police and Kirbyville Police were soon involved in the chase until the driver of the runaway vehicle, Julius T. Nix, 39, of Louisiana failed to negotiate a turn at FM 363 in Kirbyville, slamming into the side of a tractor trailer.
