Aaron Judge had jokes for Giancarlo Stanton after the Yankees’ beat the Braves on July 20, as none of the DH’s three hits in that game were for extra bases.

“He’s a singles hitter,” a lighthearted Judge said of Stanton, the majors’ active home run leader.

Told of Judge’s jab, a smiling Stanton said that he needs to remind the Yankees’ captain who has more career homers “every so often.”

“He gets a little chirpy,” Stanton added with a laugh.

That day in Atlanta aside, Stanton has issued those reminders with his bat. After homering in the Yankees’ back-breaking loss to the Rangers on Monday, he now has 10 dingers this season. All have come in his last 24 games after two tennis elbow injuries delayed the start of the 35-year-old’s 16 th big league campaign.
