The Emporia City Commission will consider potentially approving a basic bid and two alternative bids for remodeling work on the Emporia Public Library (EPL) during its Wednesday morning session.

The bulk of the projects focuses on remodeling the first and second floor bathrooms in the main EPL building. Adding an office on the second floor and removing the children’s story time room on the first floor were bid out as alternatives. BG Consultants has been working as the agricultural firm on the project.

Icon Structures, a firm out of Wichita, has offered a $277,000 bid, which includes the main bid and alternates. Including the cost of architectural services, the project cost currently sits at $301,388. The library will cover $300,000 of the cost, and the rest of the funds will be covered
