TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — With less than a week out from the start of school, back-to-school shopping is in full swing for many families.

News Channel 8 spoke with several shoppers taking advantage of not only sales, but the back-to-school tax holiday that runs through the end of August.

“I’ve been planning on this tax-free weekend to start for back to school. I have the school list. I know that they need new shoes. So, all the expenses that we need covered we can get covered with that tax-free exemption,” said Barbie Ficken of Tampa.

This year, the back-to-school tax-free holiday lasts through Aug. 31.

A shopping service provider was spotted loading up her cart with some basic back-to-school fundamentals.
