FORT MYERS, Fla. (WFLA) — A man in Fort Myers was charged with child abuse after police said he shook his baby "violently" outside a bar.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office said 24-year-old Israel Rivas was at Nauti Parrot Oasis with some friends, but stayed outside with his 2-month-old baby.
When the child began throwing up the following morning, the mother sought medical attention and took the baby to the hospital. Staff confirmed the child was suffering from shaken baby syndrome, but fortunately, they didn't think there would be lasting injuries.
Detectives later spoke with Rivas, who admitted to shaking the baby out of frustration when it wouldn't stop crying.
Rivas was charged with child abuse and booked into the Charlotte County Jail earlier this week.
