A water slide malfunction aboard Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas resulted in an injury to a guest on Thursday. The incident occurred when an acrylic glass panel broke while an adult was using the slide, causing water to flood into a public area of the ship.

Jim Muldoon, a passenger on the cruise, recorded video footage of the chaotic scene. The video shows startled guests reacting with fear as water poured down from the slide. Shouts of "Stop the slide. Stop the slide" can be heard as the situation unfolded.

Royal Caribbean confirmed that the injured guest received medical attention. A spokesperson stated, "Our team provided medical care to an adult guest when acrylic glass broke off a water slide as the guest passed through the slide. The guest is being treated for his injuries."

While the spokesperson did not disclose the severity of the injuries or the identity of the guest, they confirmed that the water slide has been closed for the remainder of the cruise. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.

The cruise ship is scheduled to return to Miami this Saturday.
