UNION, Maine — U.S. Border Patrol agents said they arrested a criminal in Union on Wednesday, July 30.

The person who was arrested was said to be from the country of Colombia, according to a press release from the agency. The person was said to be a member of the South American Theft Group (SATG) and was in the U.S. illegally, according to the press release.

Border patrol called the SATG a gang. The FBI says it is an organized crime group that mostly commits sophisticated burglaries and thefts.

The agency did not share any additional information about who the suspect is, leaving out their name, age, and gender. It also didn't go into details about how or why the person was arrested. Union is more than 180 miles away from the Houlton border crossing.
