BELFAST, Maine — A man from Belfast is facing charges after police say he sexually assaulted a minor in his van.
At around 3:45 Friday morning, Belfast police received a 911 call from someone saying a man in a white panel van was offering $100 for people to get into his vehicle, according to a press release from the Belfast Police Department.
When police responded to the area, they met with witnesses. They told police their friend, a young female, had just gotten into the van, according to the press release. Witnesses also told police their friend was sexually assaulted by the driver of the van.
Police saw the van matching the description pull out of a parking lot on Front Street and were able to stop the vehicle, the press release said. A minor female was sitting in the back of the van
