EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) -The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) said it is investigating after an inmate was found unresponsive at the El Paso County Jail on Friday.
Deputies said a 37-year-old male was found unresponsive in his bunk bed at the jail around 4:27 a.m.
Deputies and medical staff began lifesaving efforts, and around 4:38 a.m., deputies said American Medical Response and the Colorado Springs Fire Department arrived to continue medical care.
At 4:57 a.m., the male was confirmed to have died, according to EPSO.
The sheriff’s office says an in-depth investigation has been ordered into the incident, but at this time, self-harm, assault or foul play does not appear to be a factor.
This is the third inmate to have died at the El Paso County Jail since late July. 33-yea
