Tristan Rogers, a longtime star of "General Hospital," has died after battling lung cancer, his manager said.

Rogers played Robert Scorpio on the soap opera, appearing in more than 1,400 episodes and intermittently starring in the show for more than 40 years.

He was 79 years old and had never been a smoker, his manager said.
