DES MOINES, Iowa (KTIV) - A former teacher and current chair for a Central Iowa school district has announced she is running to represent Iowa in the U.S. Senate.

Jackie Norris officially announced her campaign on Tuesday, Aug. 5, where she’ll be running for the seat currently held by Joni Ernst.

Norris, who is running as a Democrat, is a small business owner, former teacher and military mom. In her campaign announcement, Norris said she is running for the Senate to ensure Iowa families “have a fair shot to get ahead” with strong public schools, affordable healthcare and an economy for everyone.
