ASHBURN, Va. — The Washington Commanders are making a huge commitment to girls' flag football in the D.C. region . The team announced its support of 127 girls flag football leagues in D.C., Maryland and Virginia over the next two years.
The support will include funding, equipment and additional programming, with the team contributing more than $1 million to grow the game. It's one of the largest contributions to girls’ youth sports in the region.
In addition to financial support, the Commanders will provide each program with 25 custom Nike uniforms and an NFL Flag Kit, including 50 flags, 10 footballs, and instructional materials.
