Kayla Wilhelm and Bobby McKinney face multiple charges after police say their baby overdosed on drugs.

GASTON CO., NC – The parents of an 8-month-old are charged, after the baby overdosed on drugs, according to police.

Gaston County Police say the overdose happened on July 27th at a home on Rural Retreat Road in Bessemer City.

Police say when they got to the home the baby was unconscious and not breathing.

EMS took the baby to CaroMont Regional Hospital and is expected to be okay.

After consulting with the Gaston County District Attorneys Office, police arrested 29-year-old Kayla Wilhelm and 33-year-old Bobby McKinney on Monday.

They are charged with felony child abuse and serious bodily injury, misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, felony maintaining a vehicle/d
