Strasburg is moving forward with plans to solicit bids for a new trash collection provider, as town officials prepare for the expiration of the current contract with Waste Management and continue to explore the feasibility of creating a town-run refuse service.
“Our priority is a different company,” Mayor Brandy Hawkins Boies said. “It's definitely not Waste Management out of Martinsburg.”
At a Monday night Town Council meeting, members voiced support for issuing a formal request for proposals (RFP) by Oct. 1, giving companies 45 days to respond. The goal is to review bids before the end of the year, allowing ample time to prepare for a potential transition before the current contract expires on June 30, 2026.
