The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge announced that the Mystery Creek Access Road and part of the Alaska Pipeline Company’s (APC) right-of-way corridor will open by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, August 8.
Travelers are advised that four-wheel drive vehicles are required due to muddy conditions and standing water. The Refuge also advised that travel is at the user’s own risk, and vehicles must remain on the established road or right-of-way.
“This is not a well-maintained gravel road,” said Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Deputy Manager Steve Miller. “[The road] is not too bad for the first seven miles, but then once you get beyond that, there’s a lot of, you know, deep puddles, and we definitely recommend a four-wheel drive vehicle.”
