KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 36-year-old Kansas City woman has pleaded guilty for the 2024 killing of 70-year-old Vonzell Bryant.

Janee Davis pleaded guilty on Tuesday in Jackson County District Court to one count of voluntary manslaughter.

She was also charged last year with one count of armed criminal action, which was dismissed.

According to court documents, just before 10 p.m. on Jan. 3, 2024, Kansas City police officers were called to a home near 26th and Agnes.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located the victim lying in the front yard. Officers and EMS personnel determined that the victim had sustained an edged weapon injury to his chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.
