Formal charges have been filed against a Pinal County man accused of kidnapping his estranged girlfriend and fatally shooting her dog.
Peri Cann, 34, has been charged with kidnapping, a class 2 dangerous felony, and animal cruelty intentionally killing a domestic animal, a class 5 felony, according to a press release from the Pinal County Attorney’s Office.
“According to investigators, the defendant is accused of kidnapping the victim and her dog and driving them to the desert. The defendant is alleged to have given the victim a choice between shooting her dog or luring her boyfriend to the desert,” the press release continued.
When she refused, Cann is alleged to have killed her dog, leaving the body in the desert.
