MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – A 15-year-old carriage horse collapsed and died in Hell's Kitchen, Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

Officers received a 911 call for an injured horse at around 2:30 p.m. near West 51st Street and 11th Avenue. A horse was found unresponsive and on the ground, police said.

The dead horse was taken to Clinton Park Stables on West 52nd Street and 11th Avenue. The New York Department of Health will conduct an autopsy and a full investigation.

NYCLASS, a nonprofit animal advocacy organization, said Lady had worked through a heat wave last week, then started shaking while walking and collapsed.
