CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A woman accused of driving a box truck that hit several people is asking to remove a second public defender and represent herself in court.

Margie Brown is charged with reckless homicide caused by vehicular injury, failure to stop for blue lights resulting in death, two counts of failure to stop for blue lights resulting in bodily injury and improper turning.

Brown was arrested in April after North Charleston Police officers attempted to stop a U-Haul box truck near Dorchester and Meeting Street Roads.

Officers chased the truck into downtown Charleston near Columbus Street and King Street.

Officials say the truck hit two people walking along the road before hitting a motorcycle, which then hit an SUV.
