UNION COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Union County Sheriff's Office bloodhound team successfully located a missing woman who wandered away from home.
Last week, deputies responded to an urgent call on Sunrise Lane in Monroe regarding an elderly woman with dementia who had left home and hadn't been seen for several hours.
During that time, the outside temperatures soared above 95 degrees, causing major concern for the woman's health and safety.
Responding deputies and nearby neighbors launched a ground search in the area, utilizing both foot patrols and ATVs. After an extensive sweep and no luck at finding the missing woman, it was time to call in the big guns.
Deputy McWhorter and K9 bloodhound Roxie responded to the scene and were given a scent article from the woman's home. Roxi
