AUGUSTA (WJBF) - A new report shows crime in Georgia declined in 2024.
“Violent crime is down 4.5% nationally, and 10% in Georgia,” said FBI Special Agent Paul Brown.
In Georgia, data showed murders went down 5.1% and property crime down 10%, well below the national average.
“Until that number is zero, we won’t be satisfied. Everyone deserves to feel safe," said Brown.
The FBI partners with state, local and federal agencies like the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) & the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
They also are rolling out a 30-day initiative, like Operation Summer Heat, to target high-crime zones and bring down violent incidents.
“FBI Director Kash Patel added 15 new agents focused solely on violent crime here in Georgia,” said Brown.
