LATROBE, Pa. (WKBN) - Pittsburgh Steelers rookie quarterback Will Howard suffered an injury to his throwing hand during Tuesday's practice.

He did not return to practice and is currently being evaluated by team doctors.

Steelers' head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters that Howard suffered the injury during a quarterback-center exchange.

His status for the preseason opener in Jacksonville is currently unclear.

Other quarterbacks on the Steelers' roster include Aaron Rodgers, Mason Rudolph, and Skylar Thompson.

Howard was selected by Pittsburgh in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft out of Ohio State.

The Steelers will kick off the preseason at 7 p.m., Saturday, on WKBN-27.
