KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Voters in Parkville have decided to end a temporary property tax levy that has been in place for the last 20 years.
On Tuesday, 56% of Parkville residents voted yes on "Proposition C," a ballot measure that would have extended an already existing, temporary property tax levy of $0.1665 per $100 through 2044.
Property taxes would not have increased under Proposition C. Instead, it would have simply continued the temporary levy approved by voters in 2004.
According to the city, 50% of the funds would have gone toward infrastructure improvements, including streets, curbs and sidewalks. The other 50% would have gone toward facility repairs, which were among Parkville residents' top priorities, according to a citizen survey held in the fall of 2024.
